Welcome Martial Artists! ...and everyone interested in Nihon Goshin Aikido and the martial arts
To The Martial Way Nihon Goshin Aikido School.
Nicholas G. Licata, Sensei
We're a budo based aikido school in Orange County, NY. We teach aikido according
to its martial arts roots in budo. Our aikido
classes [AIKIDO CLASSES & FEES] are held in our Walden dojo located at Hoshin Black
Belt Academy on Elm Street, in Walden, NY. What is Nihon Goshin Aikido
(NGA)? It is a single martial art developed in Japan from a mix of other
martial arts. Nihon Goshin Aikido is a martial art which combines the
principles of Aikido (circular motion) with jujitsu (joint manipulation)
and karate (striking) techniques. Most closely related to Daito Ryu
Aikijujitsu, Nihon Goshin Aikido was developed in Japan by Shodo
Morita a student of Yoshiro Kitaro an instructor of Daito Ryu
Aikijujitsu.
Nihon Goshin Aikido is a practical form of self defense brought to the
United States by Shihan Richard Bowe, now
head of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association based in North Bergen New
Jersey. Nihon Goshin Aikido practitioners consider the artistic
aspects of self defense but make the practical turn of martial art into
martial science. "We must realize that aikido is a
martial art, not a performance art. Aikidoka often demonstrate with beautiful
flowing technique, but bushido (the way of the warrior) demands that technique
be effective and efficient. Survival depends on it!" -- Sensei Licata --
